Senior Wins State
February 25, 2017 – The entire community of Three Rivers watched live as Isabelle Murray swam for the State Championship. With the voice of Athletic Director, Larry Herges, in the background, you couldn’t help but feel in the moment and excited as she neared the finish. Taylor High School senior, Isabelle Murray, won the OHSAA State Championship in the 100 Butterfly; breaking the OHSAA record in the preliminaries with a time of 54.37. Isabelle became the first female swimmer to win a State Championship from Taylor High School and she broke four school records in the 100 Butterfly, 100 Back, 50 Free and 100 Free.
Isabelle was not the only Taylor High School swimmer to get a place at State this year. Matter of fact, Taylor sent 5 athletes. Swimmers included seniors, Isabelle Murray, Lydia Wasserbauer, and Abby Rapien, freshman, Emma Neiheisel, and junior, Rachel Hardtke.
Senior, Abby Rapien, finished 5th in the 200 Free and 6th in the 500 Free, earning a spot on the podium.
In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Taylor swimmers Isabelle Murray, Rachel Hartke, Emma Neiheisel and Abby Rapien finished 20th overall in the State.
In the 400 Freestyle Relay Taylor swimmers, Isabelle Murray, Emma Neiheisel, Lydia Wasserbauer and Abby Rapien finished 23rd overall in the State.
As a team, Taylor finished 10th in the entire State of Ohio in Division II.
