Martha J Heath Court Dedication
The dedication event held on Friday, August 23rd, for the Heath Family was truly remarkable and heartfelt. The night started with a pre-game tailgate, followed by a court dedication ceremony that unveiled the new court floor in front of some of Martha's former players, family, and friends. Then, during the Varsity Football game, we presented the Heath family with a commemorative plaque in gratitude for their very generous gift to our school and community.
During her coaching tenure from 1975 to 1980, Martha made an unforgettable mark as a coach for girls' basketball and volleyball. Her leadership and dedication led the varsity girls' basketball team to the Final Four of the Ohio Girls' State Basketball Tournament in 1979, a remarkable achievement that showcased her coaching prowess. Martha's contributions were further recognized when she was honored with the Buddy LaRosa Award twice and named the Cincinnati Enquirer Coach of the Year in 1979.
Beyond the realm of sports, Martha's influence extended to the broader community. Her impact was so significant that Congressman Charlie Luken declared "Taylor High School" Day to recognize her achievements. This dedication and recognition speak volumes about Martha's character, commitment, and the profound impact she had on those around her.
Renaming the gym floor in memory of Martha J. Heath is a fitting tribute to a remarkable coach and educator whose legacy continues to inspire generations of Taylor High School athletes. The dedication ceremony celebrated and honored Martha's enduring influence, ensuring that her memory will continue to inspire and motivate generations to come.
