Dear Three Rivers Families,

Governor DeWine made an official statement to close schools in Ohio for three weeks beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, as an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19. As an immediate result, Three Rivers Local School District will be CLOSED beginning March 16, 2020, with an anticipated reopening date of Monday, April 6, 2020.

While our District calendar provides school participation hours well over the State minimum, we believe it is imperative to keep our students engaged in learning during days that school is canceled.  This may also prevent us from having to make up days at the end of the school year, should any additional mandatory quarantines take place.

Teachers have prepared take-home or online materials for students to work on during the closure.  These assignments and instructions will be delivered to students during school on Friday, March 13, 2020.  These assignments are RECOMMENDED to be completed to provide review, extension, and reinforcement of skills and knowledge.  With State testing and the end of course exams on the horizon, students are highly encouraged to complete these assignments and continue to reinforce and extend their knowledge.

  • K-4 - Paper materials focused on reading, writing, and math;

  • 5-8 - Online (Google classroom) and/or paper materials focused on Language Arts, math, and science;

  • 9-12 - Online (Google classroom) Assignments should reflect the classes in the student's schedule.

Teachers will continue to check email and respond to questions in a timely manner throughout the closure.

Please know that the health clinic will have office hours during the first day of closure for parents to pick up medication. The clinic will be open on Monday, March 16th from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and again from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. When picking up medication, please bring your ID. If you have any questions regarding your child’s medication, please reach out to the School Nurse, Amanda Witterstaetter at awitterstaetter@trlsd.org

The District will continue to monitor the situation Statewide and provide updates as necessary.  Thank you for being patient with us as we strive to follow the guidance from the Governor's office to keep the health and safety of our students, staff, and community our number one priority.

Sincerely,

Craig Hockenberry, Superintendent

Gretchen Bloomstrom, Director of Teaching and Learning

Holly Simms, Taylor Middle School Principal
