Cleves, December 2017 – Three Rivers Local School District received a letter from the College Board presenting us with the announcement that our District has been selected for the 8th Annual AP Honor Roll. This extraordinary honor is only awarded to districts which have simultaneously increased access to Advanced Placement® coursework while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of a three or higher on AP Exams. In the State of Ohio, only thirty-two schools have been selected for the 8th Annual AP Honor Roll, and only four hundred forty-seven within the entire United States and Canada.

Advanced Placement® is a program created by the College Board which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. In turn, some colleges and universities grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the examinations.

The Superintendent of Three Rivers Local School District, Craig Hockenberry, has always supported the staff to ensure the quality of education the students receive is the best of the best. When commenting on the recent AP Honor Roll selection, Mr. Hockenberry stated, “It is exciting to see Taylor High School do what we do and do it better than ever.”

Three Rivers has defied the expectation that expanding access to these students automatically results in a decline in the percentage of exams earning scores of three or better. This innovative thinking is something that the staff of Three Rivers Local School District can pride themselves on. The District has integrated the AP ® coursework into the curricula for decades, providing many graduates with an advanced start into the collegiate level of their education. The current Chief Academic Officer for the District, Mandy Aug, works hard to ensure such options continue to be available, relevant and applicable to all of our students. When made aware of the AP Honor Roll, Mrs. Aug said, “We have always been proud of our AP program at Taylor High School.  Our ability to expand the program while increasing student performance on the exams is a tribute to our teachers and students.  As we continue to grow, we hope to look for ways to bring even more opportunities to our students.”
