Student Spotlight
Cleves, November 2018 – In August, the Three Rivers community lined the streets of Taylor High School Senior, Delaney Day’s house to welcome her home from the Ohio Army National Guard basic training.
Throughout her career at Taylor High School, Delaney Day has been a golfer, cheerleader, basketball player, and soccer player. She consistently carries an above-average GPA, is well respected by her peers and liked by all of her teachers and the staff. In addition to her many accomplishments, Delaney is a member of the Taylor High School Football Team. As the kicker on a team comprised of men, Delaney does not let the fact that she is the only girl get in her head. Matter of fact, in response to any difficulty that Delaney has faced, she replied, “I just tell myself, you can do this, just one more step.”
While juggling academics and athletics, Delaney has become very structured and focused. Her drive led her to the Ohio Army National Guard. This summer, Delaney spent her time off of school in basic training. After the summer of mental and physical preparation, Delaney said the experience was a constant reminder of the quote, “no pain, no gain.”
Delaney has become a very well-rounded individual; people who know her speak highly of her character. Counselor, Katie Ryan, said “Delaney is a wonderful young woman who has continuously gone out of her way to get involved and make a difference in our school community. Whether it is on the field or in the classroom, she is a true leader and exemplifies courage, kindness, and service.”
