Letter to 8th grade parents
Posted on: January 19, 2017
Dear 8th grade parents (upcoming 9th graders!):
Let me be the first to welcome you and your child to the high school! We are very excited to be already thinking about next school year and making course selections for your child's freshmen year. Below are some quick updates with scheduling information and documents.
1. We met with your child's class on Tuesday January 17th to discuss the scheduling processes. At this meeting they received a sample Course Selection Sheet and their course guide. (I attached both documents).
2. In their classes over the next week, students will be viewing videos about courses we are offering and discussing their options with their advisory teacher. Check out the link to the videos here: COURSE DESCRIPTION VIDEOS
3. Some key dates to keep in mind:
Tues Jan 24th - Course Selection Day
Thurs Feb 2nd - Scheduling Fair/CCP Night
4. You should be or have already heard from your child's advisor about setting a 10 minute appointment for Scheduling Fair (Feb 2nd) between the hours of 3:30 and 7:30. Last year we had 69% of all parents attend, this year we're aiming for 80%! Attached is a flier for the evening. We will be having several colleges attending to discuss CCP options, along with a Financial Aide presentation to help get you a jump start on college planning! It seems crazy to already be thinking about college, but this is a great presentation to start the financial planning piece.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
I look forward to meeting you and seeing you on February 2nd!
