The Patriot Pen Essay Contest

The 6th grade APT students wrote essays for a contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars or VFW. The Patriot Pen essay contest theme this year is “How are you inspired by America?” As described by the VFW website and contest rules, “the essay contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300- to 400-word essay, expressing their views based on” this theme.
All students were entered in the contest and received a certificate/check for their efforts.
1st place: John Martini
2nd place: Joey Gronholm and Ethan Liston
3rd place: Lucy Doyle
4th place: Karter Reed
5th place: Dominic Martini
