VFW Writing Contest

6th-grade students in Mrs. Henderson’s APT class and Mrs. Farris’ LEAP classes participated in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Patriot’s Pen Essay Writing Contest. The students wrote an essay on the topic, “How can I be a good American?” Students worked hard in APT and LEAP to develop their ideas and write their essays. Six students placed in the local level, won cash prizes, and moved on to the regional level.
The local level winners are:
1st Place: Calli Rieskamp
2nd Place: Cameron Parker
3rd Place: Lizzie Hilvert
4th Place: Georgia Mercer
5th Place: Jacey Martini
6th Place: Taryn Mitchell
