Naturalization Ceremony
We are excited to share that Taylor Middle School will be hosting a Naturalization Ceremony on Friday, October 25, 2024, as part of an ongoing tradition here at Three Rivers. This special event offers a rare and meaningful opportunity for students to witness the final step in the journey of individuals becoming legal citizens of the United States. Unfortunately, for security and safety reasons, this event is closed to the public. However, it will be streamed on the Three Rivers YouTube page for anyone interested in tuning in live or wishing to watch it at a later time.
All Taylor Middle School students will have the privilege of attending this ceremony, where they will observe individuals who have worked diligently to meet the requirements for U.S. citizenship be officially sworn in as citizens. This is not only an educational experience but also a moment to celebrate the diverse backgrounds and stories that make up our nation.
For those unfamiliar, a Naturalization Ceremony is the culminating event in the citizenship process. It follows many months, or even years, of preparation, which includes meeting residency requirements, completing interviews, passing a civics test, and demonstrating good moral character. During the ceremony, a Federal Judge will ask candidates to take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States, officially marking their new status as citizens.
We are especially grateful to acknowledge Marney Murphy, who has been instrumental in organizing these ceremonies over the years. Thanks to her dedication, we are able to bring back this enriching experience to our school community, where students can learn first-hand about the significance of citizenship and the responsibilities it entails.
