Student Council serves as a training experience for leaders, promotes the common good of the Yellow Jacket Community, gives students an opportunity to partner in school-related event planning, develops high ideals of personal conduct, heightens interest in school happenings, and builds problem-solving skills. Members of the Council are the students’ representatives and their liaison to the school administration.

The Student Council is composed of students in grades 6, 7, and 8, and the following requirements must be met:

  1. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 with no final grades of “F”;

  2. 93% quarterly attendance;

  3. No out-of-school suspensions, BIC assignments, or expulsions during middle school;

  4. Submit a completed application by the established deadline. The application includes the following:

    • Parent Permission Slip to apply 

    • A questionnaire on why you want to be in Student Council

    • Two teacher endorsements from the previous grade

    • NO LATE APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED
