Attendance

TMS continues to work towards being as paperless as possible.  Please see below for instructions as to how to email your attendance, including absence notes, early dismissals, and late arrivals/tardies.

Report an Absence:

Please report any absences to the Attendance Line to (513) 824-7446 by 8:30 am.  It is VERY important that the student’s name, grade, and reason for absence are left on the message.  Please note: absences cannot be excused unless a reason is given on the message.
All absences require either a phone call, parent note, or parent email to be excused.  On the day following the absence, the student must bring a note, signed by the parent, stating the date(s) and the reason for the absence(s).  Please have your student bring this note to Mrs. Lange in the main office before the start of school.  To email a parent note, please send it to absent-ms@trlsd.org

Excused Absences:
Absences are excused when the reason relates to the personal illness of the student, illness in the student’s family, death in the family, quarantine for contagious disease, or religious reasons.

Late Arrivals For Personal Illnesses, Doctor’s Appointments, or Excused Reasons:
Please call or email the absence line if your student will be arriving late to school by 8:30 am.  Students arriving late to school do not need a parent to accompany them to the office to sign in but are required to provide a note.  The note should contain the student’s name, grade, date, arrival time, the reason for late arrival, and parent/guardian signature.  Students will be issued a pass admitting them to class when they check in with the front office.

Tardiness:
Any student who reports to school after 8:08 AM, and before 10:38 AM, is considered tardy. Tardy students do not need a parent to accompany them to the office to sign in but are required to provide a note.  The note should contain the student’s name, grade, date, arrival time, the reason for tardiness, and parent/guardian signature.  Students will be issued a pass admitting them to class when they check in with the front office.

Unfortunately,  oversleeping and car problems are not excused reasons for tardiness even with a parent note.   Please Note:  time missed from tardies contributes to the hours calculated for truancy.  We want to do everything possible to ensure your student is here in class.

Obtain an Early Dismissal:
Always send a note with the student on the morning of the early dismissal. Notes may be sent prior to the day of the early dismissal. Please avoid calling the office for early dismissal to minimize disruptions to classroom activities.  Emails to absent-ms@trlsd.org are the preferred method of communication.

The note for early dismissal needs to contain the student’s grade, date & time of early dismissal, the reason for leaving, phone number, and signature of the parent/guardian.   Students will be waiting in the middles school office for dismissal and must be signed out, in person, by the parent/guardian.  Proper identification will be required.

Students returning to school do not need a parent to accompany them back to the office to sign in but need to provide documentation (i.e. doctor’s note) from the dismissal.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or assistance.  We appreciate your support in prioritizing the importance of your child being on time for school.
