National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an honorary organization that recognizes outstanding middle school students. NJHS serves to honor students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.

Students meeting the qualifications below will be invited to apply in the fall.  Induction for new members will be held in November and their membership will be valid the entirety of the school year.

Once inducted, members must maintain a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA and must complete at least 10 community service hours.   Along with these individual hours, members will meet monthly to discuss and plan community service opportunities.

Qualifications:

  1. Earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 for three consecutive quarters.

  2. Complete the NJHS Candidate Information Forms and essay and return by the date indicated.

  3. Earn service units as an NJHS candidate by attending meetings and participating in NJHS sponsored activities.

  4. Receive written recommendations from the faculty, and be approved by the Faculty Council.

  5. Have received no in- or out-of-school suspensions. Students who have been suspended from school may apply to the Faculty Council for consideration after completing the quarter in which the suspension was received plus completing one additional quarter AND meeting all other requirements for candidates.

  6. Attend the induction ceremony.

 

To maintain membership:

  1. Participate in NJHS functions/activities, earning 10 service units in a given school year.

  2. Attend a minimum of 6 meetings.

  3. Maintain a 3.5 average.

  4. Accumulate no more than one F on a report card in a school year.

  5. Receive no in- or out-of-school suspensions.
